John Sloman

A layman-level introduction (available in English), with plenty of "cameos" to exemplify concepts.

Note: my review is partially biased, as, after a preview few other days of this book along with three others on macroeconomics, I decided to read this one at the end of my "tour", as a cross-check.

Meaning: I read it cover to cover, but frankly only few pages were worth thinking about- as somebody said "Everything Should Be Made as Simple as Possible, But Not Simpler" (somebody, as I remembered Einstein, but obviously there are many different theories! http://quoteinvestigator.com/2011/05/13/einstein-simple/).

Considering content and structure and needles repetitions, almost as if a reader of a chapter where to forget what was written few pages before, this book would deserve just 2*, but if used by students whose major isn't in economics, or as a "first book" on the subject for those who need/want to know something, it isn't that bad- so, 3*

Caveat: as the authors write, the book here and there takes shortcuts (i.e. converts macroeconomics into a "one size fits all", as if there were consensus where there isn't), and therefore, before using the concepts it delivers as an interpretative framework, better to have a look at something else that could complement this book (e.g. search "macroeconomia" within my "reviewed" collection)… (mais)
