Sobre Minha Biblioteca

Well, it's pretty extensive. Reading is one of my favorite past times and is how I unwind at the end of work, or during lunch, or on a weekend when it's just the best thing to do. And my library has grown exponentially with the help and influence of my friends on both Shelfari and Leafmarks. I am open to biographies, historical fiction, fantasy (and some sci-fi) and general fiction though not as much. Classics from time to time, especially if I'm reading them as part of a group.

I have met books I didn't like, and I usually put them down and do my best to give a fair review. And I've found one of the best things for these books is through the site bookcrossing.com, where I can release these books into the wild and track them while they find new homes.

I use the following categories:

Wishlist: Oooh, that sounds like something fun or interesting and I like your review of it.

Read: Read all the way through

Currently reading: Still reading. Some books take a few weeks, some a few years. When I see the same books every time I open this view, it's time to finish it or release it.

Read but unowned: Released into the wild, or borrowed from the library for a group read or reading challenge.

Did not finish: It was just not worth reading all the way through. My interest, or the writing, or even the subject matter. Just nope.

About Me
Another Shelfari castaway hoping to find similar friends and interests and reading challenges on this new site. I still enjoy reading quite a bit and have found that a) I really enjoy good historical fiction (i.e., no bodice ripping), and b) read more fantasy than true science fiction. But I like both genres and have friends in both worlds. And then there are the biographies and autobiographies that I find on bookshelves and find fascinating.

I tend to update LibraryThing on weekends since I still work full-time and play music on some weekends, or get involve in handcrafts. So sometimes it's a week between visits to friends' threads, sometimes closer to a month.

I still wander the shelves of several independently-owned bookstores, sometimes a Barnes & Nobles if I'm in the area, and sometimes I find book sellers at festivals. Always a good way to add to my own shelves, though lately I'm looking at the piles and stacks and reading from them.
