This is a very, quick read. The dark and spooky vibe of New Orleans is the perfect setting for this story.

Emily and Grimm come from two different walks of life. Emily is from a rich family. Yet, she never treated Grimm like he was beneath her. That they why they formed a good friendship. The draw that Emily felt to seek out Grimm again as an adult is strong.

When Grimm sees Emily again you can tell that he felt that connection too. I was expecting their friendship to bloom into something more. What I did not see coming was the ending. It left me with unanswered questions. Yet, the fact that I am left wondering what happened, and my mind is left running wild with "what if" is part of the appeal of this book.… (mais)

Zaydee and Garrett's relationship may have started out as taboo, but it ran so much deeper than just physical. It was very much emotional. I felt everything that Zaydee and Garrett were feeling with the sorrow, love, rage, and tears.

This story shows the raw look into what happens after a moment of passion. Everything does not just look pretty through rose-colored glasses. It is a bumpy road that affects all involved.

OMG, Yolonda what did you do to me. Ooh my aching heart just shattered into a million pieces. If you ever wondered if a short book could be so powerful...the answer is yes!… (mais)

This is a dark delicious work from several amazing authors that have gave us some short but amazing reads. I can’t wait to go back and read them all but for now my review is for Dancing With The Devil by Isabel Lucero and this was a super hot on fire story. Audri has suffered loss for a while now and she does what she can to get by but she works so hard her friends want to see her have a little fun every once in a while so they convince her to go out. Little does Audri know her fun night out may take a turn for the worse when she walks to the wrong area of the club looking for the restroom and stumbling on some gentlemen having a private conversation. When she wakes up she realizes her situation is pretty dire and the guy that has her isn’t one to believe her crossing paths with his business is a coincidence so he has her locked up. Can she convince her captor that she is an innocent bystander or is his darkness just the thing she craves? This was awesome and I wish it was a full length novel because not only was it delicious and dark but they had some real Bonnie and CLyde vibes going in a twisted way.… (mais)

It seems to be a running thing this year but for the second time this year I'm actually going to skip a series and just read the original book that had brought me to this series. I think it was called inequity.

And here is the reason for reasons.

I have read several books of this content before. And the majority of the time, the storyteller can bring you into the story, make you see the broader picture of everything going on, and express their feelings and their terrors and passion so to speak. But this read like a monologue. It read or, sounded, like a news reporter with a blank face, no emotion, just reading the news off a teleprompter. The very few times that I felt any kind of emotion, they were overshadowed by poor acting is what I like to call it. I didn't connect with this book at all.

As someone who lived through and survived child abuse, this book was horribly written. I'm sorry but it was. From what I've read about the author, I've heard some really good things about them. Sure they've got a sick and demented mind but you know sometimes those can be intriguing. But maybe this book just fell flat?

I've looked at some of the other reviews and I'm confused. I'm wondering if maybe I somehow got a copy of this book that isn't what they read? I mean I bought it so it should be the same thing everyone else is reading right? Yes it's an Epub but I mean it's the same thing as the paperback or something right?

I'm so confused. Because I swear to God I did not read whatever book every other reviews were about. The father of the book. Or husband. Or bad guy, was boring. Actually I take that back, he's about the only one that had an emotion through the entire book. But it was not the emotion that you would expect. He seemed bored of everything going on. There was no I don't know how to say it without sounding creepy but there was no excitement. He's supposed to be doing this because it excites him, that was something the girl had said it excites him. But I didn't see any excitement whatsoever. There was no passion from him. There was no connection from him. Most people who are abusers, have a connection to the person they're abusing. But this seemed like he basically picked up these people off the road and did his little nasty and then through them away. I just didn't connect. I read several books on Goodreads, you guys have likely seen. But I did not connect to this book at all. As a matter of fact it took me two days to read. which, under 150 pages? Usually takes me less than a few hours. So I'm kind of stressed that I wasted all of this time on this book.

maybe in the future I'll double back and I'll check out some other books by her. Because I have read online, that she is as great author. And I really want to experience that. But for now I think I'm going to hop forward and read that inequity book and see how that goes.

Sorry at the end, I was going to say, sorry in advance but obviously I've surpassed that, if I have offended anyone. That was not my intention. But I don't believe in telling somebody they've done a great job, when honestly I don't think it was a great job.

I will say congratulations on having that kind of sick and demented mind, and having enough balls to actually put it out there for people to read. That takes a lot of courage. So rock on with your bad self.
