En sensuell och ömsint skildring av Kafkas sista kärlek och tid i livet. Författaren bygger sin berättelse på ett rikt källmaterial. Språket är klart och poetiskt samt saknar grova sexuella beskrivningar. Det är en fröjd att läsa.

Here we have the tale of Kafka and his last lover, Dora Dymant. Their attraction for each other is immediate and intense. Kafka is already ill.
Once the two finally manage to move to Berlin together (pages 11-84), the reader waits for Kafka to die (pages 87-235). This, unfortunately, makes for a static read. Fortunately, Kumpfmüller writes with great feeling and precision.
I would be interested to read another work by Kumpfmüller where he is not so constrained by historical fact.
