I found this book at the library and didn’t realize it was a part of a series. This is book #6 in the series, and though I had not read any previous part of this series I was able to follow the connections. I am intrigued enough to go back and read the books 1-5. ( )

I love this series, and found this book to be another great read. If you haven't read the series, I recommend starting at the beginning (which might be just slightly better just because it will be newer/fresher). That being said, it is a very good forensic investigation series-- even better than Patricia Cornwell in my opinion. Enjoyable characters that I haven't gotten tired of yet. ( )

You'd think in the Diane Fallon novel where she isn't the head of the crime lab there would be less excitement in her life. In fact, it's quite the opposite in this novel.

There's a new mayor and Chief of Police in Rosewood and it's causing everyone headaches. Fallon has also gotten replaced as the head of the crime lab. And her people, Neva and David, have been relegated to the timeout corner. While the new crime lab head's new people thoroughly muck up everything. Then people start dying and Fallon and the museum try to sever their relationship with the crime lab.

Some characters from previous books like Izzy Wallace and the museum's (and nearly everyone else's) lawyer Colin Prehoda had much bigger roles. It's one of the things I really love about Beverly Connor's Diane Fallon series. She'll introduce a character in one book, and then a few books later the character will show up again. She has this large cast of characters and she highlights a few different ones in each book.

This book also has a bit more museum stuff which I always like. I especially like the museum security characters, especially their head, Chanell Napier, who never seems to be ruffled even as the world's going crazy around her. Awesome characterization. ( )

This was a page-turner from the start. The folks I'm coming to know as continuing characters are interesting, and clearly drawn. Even minor characters have some zing and add depth to the story. The mystery plot was strong, but the villains' motivation a bit thin. Nevertheless, a great addition to this series. ( )
