Including works by such illustrious authors and artists as Maurice Sendak, James Marshall, Judy Blume, Ursula Le Guin, William Steig, and Roald Dahl, the selections range from the humorous to the magical to the contemporary to the just plain silly. Fun. Some stories I knew, some I knew of but had never actually read (it's amazing how ubiquitous Flat Stanley is, when I think about it), and some I recognized the style but hadn't read those stories (Mitzi, Freckle Juice). They're designed for beginning readers - it took me barely an hour to read the whole thing - but all of them are interesting, and most quite enjoyable. I doubt I'll reread it, but I'm glad I read it once. ( )

Nice collection of picturebooks in one volume. Because of the size, not as comfortable to read as the individual books (most illustrations are smaller than the original). ( )
