In the first story, Raven has to show her best buds what it really means to be friends. In the second, she goes to a Yoga retreat with her mother just to meet her favorite pop star.
It's rather obvious that these are adaptations of TV shows. They have the usual two plot lines and three act structure. However, the author does a nice job of describing the slapstick and working around the visuals a TV show depends on. The two stories have a nice message, especially the first one. It is nice to see the lead character being the good friend rather than the one who has to learn the lesson for a change. The second story is more just farce, but amusing farce nonetheless.
While not high literature, this book is fun. They are worthwhile additions to any elementary school library, and some middle school library. Sometimes the kids just need something amusing. ( )
