This was a nice beginner's chapter book about a girl visiting the country with her mother to meet her maternal grandfather. It was a nice simple book about learning to appreciate a place for its differences, rather than letting that take away from the experience. ( )

This is a wonderful book that starts off with a mother taking her daughter on a plane ride to meet her grandfather. The girl has never met her grandfather before and has never stayed in a rural area before and dosent seem to like either one. Her first day there she sees mean looking chickens, a mean cat, and is chased by a mule. After a couple of days she starts to warm-up to her surroundings and her grandfather. By the end of the story she has forged s strong relationship with her new animal friends and her grandaddy! Because it is a chapter book i would suggest this for 2nd grade or higher. ( )
