Realistic stuff about the failings of christians and the problems of the ministry, with a few encouraging stories of the apparent activity of God. Particularly striking was the chapter about his experience of credibility fatigue. A special challenge for someone who'se life is given over to serving the unseen. sem resenhas | adicionar uma resenha
Life, as we all well know, is never plain sailing. We often struggle through the daily grind with gritted teeth knowing that somehow, despite our best efforts, we never seem to live up to the label, 'Christian'. Sometimes or perhaps most of the time, we feel like we'd rather not bother! Well Jeff has been there and, not surprisingly, has faced the same struggles we do. Lucas on Life 2 is a very personal account of life's ups and downs but has one resounding message - despite everything we do, say or think God still loves us! Be prepared to be thoroughly challenged, provoked and nudged, both subtly and directly, in this humorous collection of stories and anecdotes from one of the UK's best loved Christian authors. I found them all interesting, and mostly thought-provoking. Jeff Lucas thinks in ways that resonated again and again; he expresses ideas and beliefs that are far too rarely expressed aloud. Perhaps we're afraid that others will judge us if we admit to boredom, frustrations, wandering minds and irritations when in church services. Or perhaps we're too busy judging others.
I borrowed this book when I had finished the first 'Lucas on Life', and have read a few pages every day for a couple of months. Very highly recommended - and I hope to get hold of more of the same. ( )
