Zorian Kazinski is woken up by his sister, argues with his mother and takes the train to school for his third year. The first month is perfectly normal until the summer solstice approaches and he dies. Only to wake up on the first morning before the train. Again. And again. And again.

With limited time remaining, Zorian, Zach and their allies push to learn all they can while trying to find a way to stop the ancient primordial being from destroying the world. But they need to learn more about their souls and there's only one person they know who specialises in souls - the Quatach-Ichl.

After finding that Red Robe has left the time loop. The boys are disheartened and unsure if either of them will be able to leave. Like I love the storyline but I also hate the whole existential crisis it's kind of given me. Zach being tested by Xvim was hilarious and I loved how Zorian makes plans to pool all their resources and have everybody build upon their research over the time loops - even if they can't remember it. Plus Zorian once again finding a cruel and relentless teacher (Quatach-Ichl) for his new topic of study was hysterical.

Like the first two books this was fast paced and action packed. There's so much going on my brain was spinning and I was loving it. Zorian's come far as a person as well, learning to be nicer and relate better to others. Zach still annoyed me at times though.

Another installment of an epic progression fantasy with incredible world building. 5 stars. ( )

Still powering through these books.

Progress is slow and Zorian and Zach keep coming across more and more 'interesting' situations. We get exposed to a couple of different personal interactions and they're looping in progressively more people as time progresses. They know how to find 4 of the 5 items they need (although their retrieval is anything but effortless) but it felt as though their effots were plateauing to a large degree (and I still have some strong suspicions about a couple of things in particular - I'm looking forward to finding out how the story threads are sewn off).

And now off to ARC 4!! ( )
