For corporate consultant Paige Leighton, the ends always justify the means. She does whatever it takes to make her clients' businesses profitable. She has no room for sentimentality in business or in her personal life and loves nothing better than pushing others out of their comfort zones. Kassidy Drake has spent a lifetime creating her comfort zone, and she has no intention of leaving. Her home is as orderly and as beautiful as the rows of lavender surrounding it, but she needs to make Lavender Lane Farm solvent or she might lose everything. She agrees to listen to Paige's advice as long as Paige doesn't expect much more from her than changing the font on her business cards. Accompanied by the buzz of honeybees and the scent of lavender, Paige and Kassidy must find a way to compromise if they want to save Lavender Lane Farm--and find a way to make room for love along the way.… (mais)

I haven't read anything by Karis Walsh in a really long time. I think the last one I read was Sea Glass Inn and it was super angsty. Good, but by the end, I felt like it was just too much. I hadn't felt compelled to read another by the author until I was a victim of peer pressure.

Wow, I'm so glad I was shoved into picking this book up. I don't know if it was the mood I was in or what but this book was very nearly my perfect romance novel. Lovely human beings for main characters who had fantastic chemistry, great humor that kept me smiling - and even laughing - throughout, and just enough angst to make my feel it in the heart. And a cute doggie, too!

So why only 4 stars instead of 5? Because the mid-scene POV shifts yanked me out of the story too many times. If I have to stop to look at the previous paragraph to make sure I wasn't mistaken on whose head I was in, I've lost some of that wonderful connection to the character. I enjoyed the story enough to never consider putting the book down but I did curse a few times when I was thoroughly engrossed in the action or emotion and then pushed into the other characters head.

Even with the POV thing, I will be reading this one again. It has earned a spot on my Cheri's Funk Reading List ( )

Okay. I have to get something out of the way before the review. I don't like Lavender. It's nothing personal against the pretty plant, but, the smell gives me a helluva headache.

The book on the other hand did not give me a headache.

It's about Paige and Kassidy. Paige is a corporate consultant. She comes into a business and sees ways to improve it. One of her clients gives her services as a birthday present (sort of) to his daughter. That's Kassidy.

Kassidy owns a Lavender farm that is doing okay, but, not so okay that she's rolling in money. So, Paige and her very cute dog Dante travel to the farm and try to convince Kassidy to let Paige do her magic and make Kassidy's farm even better.

Of course, at the same time the two women are getting closer personally as well, and that makes everything complicated.

I liked a lot of the book and the story. I really liked Dante too. And I wish that we'd gotten to see just a bit more of Kipper.

But, the end seemed a little rushed to me, and I felt like there were a couple of story threads that sorta got lost at the end too.

Overall, though, it was a fun and fast read and I didn't have to smell lavender!

I received this book via Netgalley thanks to Bold Strokes Books. ( )
