An experiment in terror pushed him to his limits. Now Subject B is fighting back. His name is Marcus Holt. He is a fighter, a survivor, and a decorated combat veteran. But to the sadistic Professor Abel Worthe, Marcus is known merely as Subject B -- a pawn in the scientist's inhumane experiments. Worthe is an expert in the study of death and fear. And he intends to push Marcus to the limits of human endurance.Trapped in the shadowy streets of a haunted village, Marcus and his young friend Alex must deal with a new threat: the ghost of a vicious murderer, who kills with a bloody mason's hammer. Their task is made even harder when two new subjects, a bickering couple, are added to their group, drawing the wrathful spirit right to them. As Marcus and the others struggle against this supernatural horror, Professor Worthe observes the psychological effects of their extreme terror. But Marcus Holt is a soldier. Another riveting addition to the Haunted Village collection.

*Spoiler alert*

Abel Worthe is still acquiring houses and the dead that inhabit them. He is also still adding to the number of test subjects in his village. This particular book gives us more insight on the character of Professor Worthe. Subjects B and D are still surviving and have now been joined by Subject F. Where will the next installment take us?

*I received a copy of this book for free. The review is my own, honest and unsolicited.- ( )

This book two in the haunted village series. Abel worthe's sick experiment continues on in the village but now there are two new subjects - a married couple who are brought to this village of the dead and a new threat, the ghost of a vicious serial killer whose weapon of choice is a mason's hammer. Will the subjects survive? Or will they become the new ghost next victim?

This book was very well written you can tell that the author put a lot of time and effort into his writing. There's a great cast of characters and you slowly get to learn a little more about them as the story continues. You get to learn a bit of abel worthe's past and sort of get an idea as to why he's doing this crazy experiment. Marcus and Alex have formed quite a strong bond and i feel like you really get to see that in this book.I found it crazy that one of worthe's employees actually seemed to believe in what abel worthe was doing and made me think that maybe he's just as crazy as abel worthe himself. There is however an employee who doesn't agree with with what abel worthe is doing.

I enjoyed reading this book, there were some things that happened in the book that really took me ny surprise. I highly recommend this book.

I recommend this book to: anyone who loves a good very dark horror story, if you like stories with malevolent ghosts.

T.W: for violence, blood,and gore. ( )

I read this in one day. Great second book in the series. The containing of Oskar was to simple but the rest of the story was exciting and fast paced. Let's see what the 3rd book entails! ( )

I devoured this book. If I hadn't had to work, it would have been easily completed in a single sitting. Oskar is deliciously evil, Warren is messed up, and Marcus is still so easy to cheer for.

My biggest gripe is actually with Timmy's chapters as he visits my hometown of Nashua, NH. The description of it being a dying town is completely wrong, though Peddlers Daughter is a real and enjoyable place. I wish the haunted address was real, though there are several beautiful Victorian houses that may be ;-) ( )

This is the second book in this series and the main characters are becoming a lot more fleshed out. Marcus is forging himself as the hero here and the new ghost on the block - Oskar - is the supernasty villain. Oskar does his victims in with a hammer, and he does it with relish (and I don't mean the kind you slather on a hot dog). Bring into this dynamic a newly married couple whose marriage crumbles and you have the stuff of delicious nightmares.
Ron Ripley has yet to let me down with his work. One might suspect that after as many books as he writes that the characters and plots would become repetitive but that just doesn't happen. Sure, there are similarities but I have yet to become bored with these great stories. ( )
