Now, Nelscott's gripping account of the days leading up to the convention reveal a country in transition and a detective poised to play a central role in events of lasting significance for him, and his nation. This is the second book in the Smokey Dalton series. Smokey is an African American detective in 1960s America.
On the run from events in Memphis, Smokey and young Jimmy are laying low in Chicago.
Adrift, not knowing his environment, Smokey gets involved in the investigation of a missing black child, while historic events again converge on him with the Democatic Convention about to explode.
A great suspenseful read. ( )
