Five women must spend months alone together in a hostile jungle, threatened on land and in the water and--perhaps most dangerous of all--by their own exposed and violent passions, that turn them, into savages far worse than their hunters and enemies.

This book took a bit of getting into, but once they got on the island it was a lot more interesting. Certainly worth the patience. ( )

In the beginning of the book I had a hard time getting into it. There are 5 main characters who all have spouses and most have children so it was getting to know about all of them. Once they were on the island then things picked up and I really enjoyed the book. I would recommend this book but would suggest to be patient. ( )

Savages is my best book of all, in my personal library at home. I read that book few years ago, borrowing it from the local library and could not put it down, finished it in 1 day...

To my regrest, I had to bring it back to the library and I started there to find it and could not. I got it at a bookmarket for .50Cents and it has a special place on my shelf now.

This is a story of survival, women travelling together to a remote island and getting left behind, because of an overturn of the habitants of this island.

Great story, including maps and very specific descriptions of the surrounding. The emotion and passion of the writer is ever present, behind each line of this wonderful book. A must read! ( )

I found myself not whipping through this because I cared about the women, but because I wanted to see how Conran would wrap it up. It’s as realistic as my limited experience of equatorial jungles lets me judge. Some disease and filth thrown in, but not enough to kill the women. Some sex thrown in, but not enough to detract from the story. Some violence thrown in, but not enough to turn the women into men.

The beginning trip into their corporate lives was interesting but not vital. We’ve all seen enough of Dallas and Dynasty to get the picture, but I guess the author of Lace couldn’t resist. I think killing off their guide, and only adult male on this adventure was wise, otherwise it depicts the always insulting premise that a woman cannot survive without a man. That would have pissed me off. Of course, to make it believable, he has to be there to guide them in the beginning, otherwise these bimbos wouldn’t have survived their first exposed hours on the beach. ( )
