I picked up this book at the Lifeline Bookfest last weekend and said "looks interesting" but I didn't know what to expect. I started reading it on Friday and just could not put it down.
While I think it fairly balances the POVs of the father and daughter, I like the way it focuses on the father, as the title implies. A nice look at the world that was in the late 60s, and how it hit the parents and children.
I could see a lot of myself in Lissie, not the drugs or anything but the insatiable wanderlust. It doesn't take much more than "would you like to go..." to get me to consider a trip, and I can't imagine what I'd have done if I lived back then. Would I have gone to Europe and Asia? Would I have stayed in the US?
A great read for anyone interested in the father/daughter relationship/anyone who loves to travel/anyone curious in the life and culture of the late 60s.
One of the best books I've read in a long time. (
