She was classy, smart, and strong. What I Thought of the Story: Desire by Blood is set during the time of expectations, flourish, and the beauty of the Ton. This is one of my favorite historical times to read about and explore through new characters. Melissa did a wonderful job of weaving in the richness of the era with a truly good mystery. At the heart of Desire by Blood is the hunt for a very bad man doing very bad things. The romance was well balanced with the mystery, action, and suspense. This is a romance story though and you will be completely fulfilled by that element. The romance is steamy, sexy, and for those of us that blush easily-pink cheek inducing. I think you will truly be amazed at how much you like the mystery element too. Overall, it was just downright good storytelling y'all! What I Thought of the Characters: Lady Cordelia Collingsworth hands down is one fantastic character. Her independent nature coupled with her natural curiosity is a great mix for a character that is a writer at heart. She lives in a time where none of these things are looked on kindly if possessed by women and she just doesn't seem to care. In fact, she seems to thrive. She has gumption and I LOVE that in my leading ladies. Nicodemus Blackburn (Nico) is a great match for her! I think having a strong mother (Adelaide) prepped him for having a very strong wife. Can I also say that I loved the marriage plot use? I thought this gave them great confines of getting to know each other and incentive to work it out. Cordelia and Nico didn't have a smooth road but they had a hot, steamy, tough road that they both traveled. It made the characters stronger in my mind! Final Thought: If you like historical romances with a paranormal twist then you don't want to miss this wonderful story of romance, love, and adventure!
