It had its faults, such as being a bit repetitive, but I found the story in this book much more captivating. Since Rebecca's backstory was already set up in the previous book, I feel like it was less stereotypical of a ghost story and a much easier read going in. Overall, I'd give it 3.5 stars! ( ) Pretty good follow up to [b:Ruined|6261081|Ruined (Ruined, #1)|Paula Morris|http://d.gr-assets.com/books/1327879243s/6261081.jpg|6444288]. I couldn't tell if the book felt like an ending, or if we'll be seeing more of Rebecca & Co. again. I hope so, because I love to read books that are set in New Orleans. This paranormal story brings the diverse history of New Orleans to life. Rebecca Brown has returned to New Orleans, back to the town where she almost lost her life to a family curse. The ghosts of New Orleans have also reached out to her again, and if she can't help, two ghosts will be trapped forever. *Many thanks to Scholastic and NetGalley for allowing early access to this title* Quick Review...for when I don't have a lot to say... I quite enjoyed the first book in this series, so I was sure I'd like this one as well. I wasn't disappointed. I enjoyed getting back to New Orleans. I wish we'd had a chance to get more into the culture, but I did enjoy what we got. This time around, Rebecca ends up not being the only one who can see ghosts. She's got her best friend in tow and at one point, Ling sees the ghosts too, as well as Anton, Aurelia, and an unsavory character from Rebecca's past. Ling was the best thing about this book. She was the perfect best friend - understanding, supportive, hilarious, and willing to do what she needed to do. I really liked every scene that she was in. She added so much to the story. I didn't like Rebecca and Anton together this time around. They seemed like such a good fit last time, but in Unbroken, they were lukewarm at best. It's almost like they were playacting at being together. Meh. I enjoyed the story. It was very different from Ruined, which I appreciated. It's nice to get a sequel that introduces some new problems and doesn't just tell the same old story again. Overall, a fun read and one that I now own. I may pick it up again at some point when I want a nice ghost story. 3.5 Eiffel Towers Content Advisory Language: Moderate Sexuality: Mild Violence: Moderate sem resenhas | adicionar uma resenha
