Three beautifully intertwined love stories... The rules are made to be broken... When the handsome, rakish Earl of Hawthorne buys the charming house across the back garden from his town home, he never expects the lovely lady he installs there to ensnare him completely... Again... After Lady Anne Keighley marries the earl, it seems a shame to leave the house empty, so she offers it to her childhood friend Felicity Mercer, who discovers that the earl's gorgeous cousin is precisely the man she's been waiting for... and again... Finally, feisty Georgiana Baxter moves into the house to escape an arranged marriage, and encounters the earl's friend Lord Julian Silsby late one night in the back garden. The handsome soldier is more than willing to give her the lessons she asks for... There is plenty of gossip, scandal, and torrid speculations surrounding the "mistress' house", but behind closed doors, passions blaze...… (mais)

Too much sex for my taste, but I do enjoy a bit of romantic tension / comedy from time to time. If I could just find the one without the other... ( )

I am not a historical romance reader, at all. So I was surprised by how much I enjoyed this read. It is basically three novelettes about a single house that seems to induce desires and marriage. I loved that I could enjoy one story a night for three nights, each with their own HEA, yet tied together loosely by character friendships and the house. Fun, fast read, with sexy love scenes and aggressive heroines. ( )

This was a fun little book.

Three separate, yet slightly linked stories that all take place because of a common house (the eponymous Mistress's house). Three fun, bite-sized romance snacks.

I liked the first two stories, but I was not so much a fan of the third. The first two involved women who were maybe a bit damaged, but knew what they wanted and happened to fall in love (where would the romance be without love!). The third story had a young girl and I felt she was too young and naive and annoying.

But for a free book from amazon, not bad. ( )
