In about March 1942 the German SS launched a secret operation to disinter and burn the corpse of every Jew killed in the East since 1939. That included about 3.5 to 3.8 million in interwar Poland and another 1.8 to 2 million scattered across the area of contemporary Russia, Ukraine and the Baltic states. The burning began long after mass killings started (ca. 10.41).
