Sorts for Home page Browse “canned searches”

I have been creating HTML Browse searches for some of our book collections. Sorting results by author or title makes sense for fiction, but non-fiction browsing would be best with a Dewey number (othercallnumber) sort. Is it possible to have results for non-fiction sort by the call number?

I'm afraid we don't have call number sorting on TinyCat searches, but I'll add that to the list of features to consider down the line! Thanks for your feedback.

>2 kristilabrie: Well, while you're at it (smile), we would like to be able to sort by the other Call Number field (I see it when I edit a book below the Dewey decimal field). That may not be the exact name of the field since I'm not currently looking at the screen. I've set this field up to contain the number or code that we actually file books by. I.e. Non-fiction has a dewey number, a slash, and then the author last name in the field (813.54/Roberts). Fiction books have F/Roberts. Children's E/Roberts. And so on.

>3 NAPUBLIB: If we added sorting on searches by call number, we would go by whatever call number system you're using from your Circulation Settings (https://www.librarycat.org/admin/settings/circsettings)!

>4 kristilabrie: Does this also speak to why I can't figure out how to display search results in order OR in reverse order using that button at the upper right {relevancy - acquisition - title - date - author - popularity - series}. Especially the date, I'd really like to be able to see either newest-oldest OR oldest-newest.

>5 AppTrailMuseum: I'm afraid there isn't an ascending sort on Search pages, although I can't tell you why not. I'm going to ask about this and see if there's a reason we didn't add it.

>6 kristilabrie: Thank you. I know very, very little about programming, but it seems like a simple enough thing to add -- and I'm pretty sure others would like to see it available for users. A-Z, Z-A, 0-9, 9-0.
