Greetings NaNoers!

It's your in-house cheerleader, prepping for another year of madcap writing mayhem. We have hydro wrist massagers, that work as you type this year!

So limber up your fingers, get those outlines ready, and be ready to start. We're just a little over three weeks away!

I'm hoping to win this year. Last year was a bust. Hoping for the best this year.

*waves*

I have no clue what I'll be writing, as both my current WiPs are stalled and I have no new ideas right now, but I'll definitely be writing something.

I've a vague idea of what I'm writing. I've tried planning and that never works. I'm a pantster.

I'm in the cheering section!

I thought I was really organised, all ready and set.

Now I have fallen out with my idea completely and am in a mild panic. Just going to be crossing my fingers and hoping.

16 hours to go! I'm a bit nervous for some reason this year. Things are a bit unsettled in RL so I'm hoping I can settle to it.

Still faffing about which of 2-3 half-baked plots I might go with, which isn't good at all :)

Do 2 half-baked plots equal a whole one?

Sorry, I'm getting silly as midnight nears and I still have only the vaguest idea what I'm going to write this year.

Honestly, yes.

The last year I actually did NaNo (so we're talking 2009/2010), my idea was a rough sketch of a world disaster movie plot, put in book form. I mixed so many screwed up plots together in one awful block of prose I stopped writing for almost 6 months, didn't open the file again for 4 years.

When I did reopen it, I started sifting through the detritus of a story, and pulled out elements of ONE character. That has been in rebuild mode ever since. What I pulled out amounted to about 4000 words, give or take. It's up to almost 18,000 now.

So yes, half baked is still something written!

*shakes plastic pom poms* Let's go! US East coast is less than 4 hours away!

#11 I'm with you - I have three possible areas and I'm going with all of them. Pick which one talks to me each day. I've done this before and normally one decides it wants to be written more than the others and ends up being what I focus on. I think last year I ended up with 7k of one and 43k of another.

Um, yesterday I drew up plans for the cabin where my protagonist lives and made up the names of the imaginary town, county, wilderness area, and mountain peak she lives near. I "wrote" the first chapter of my book as I was falling asleep last night. This morning, as soon as I finish washing up the breakfast dishes and giving the birds fresh water, I'm going to pull out my trusty AlphaSmart word processor - the one that doesn't have access to he web and you can't see more of what you've just written than the last couple of lines so you can't easily go back to the beginning and rewrite - and hunker down in my "writing room" (aka guest room/storage room) where there are no distractions and get started.

That's me: A day late and a dollar short!

Hope everyone has a story going. I'm surprised I'm doing as well, but then I'm writing a story a dragon is telling. A dragon named Puff, so hard not to be having fun.

majkia- Oh no. Now I'm going to have that Puff the Magic Dragon song stuck in my head all night. lol Thanks for that.

I have yet to start writing, but I think I need to actually make some sort of outline before I start... I've pantsed it many times, but this story may need an actual outline before I figure out what the heck to do with it.
