Audrey Wood (3) (1905–1985)

Audrey Wood was born in New York City on February 28, 1905. In 1927, she became a script reader at the Century Play Company and eventually became head of the department. In 1937, she opened her own agency to represent playwrights and soon afterward formed a business partnership with William mostrar mais Liebling, a successful agent for actors and directors. The Liebling-Wood agency represented numerous top entertainment industry professionals including Tennessee Williams, Marlon Brando, Montgomery Clift, Paul Newman, Audrey Hepburn, Elizabeth Taylor, Natalie Wood, and Elia Kazan. Liebling retired in 1954 and the Liebling-Wood agency was purchased by the Music Corporation of America. Wood continued to represent her playwrights through International Creative Management. She taught playwright workshops at several universities and taught playwriting at Wesleyan University. After completing the manuscript for her autobiography in 1981, she suffered a stroke, which left her in a coma that led to her death in 1985. (Bowker Author Biography) mostrar menos
