Wearing's classic street / documentary photography subversion, with strangers asked to write on a blank sheet of paper. The subjects, as the artist says, engineer their own representation, to sometimes hilarious, sometimes serious effect. A sort of YBA update to Goldberg's 'Rich and Poor,' the text now in the picture. 1997.
