It's Piglet's birthday, and Kanga has helped Pooh bake him a cake. But as they make their way to Piglet's house, little by little the cake keeps shrinking as Pooh makes various . . . adjustments.

Yesterday, I read Pooh Plans a Party in which Pooh and his friends mess up Eeyore's birthday. And now here is he doing a similar thing to Piglet. Birthdays are rough in the Hundred-Acre Wood.

This book was originally sold with a Pooh doll that would respond when you said key phrases from the book. Alas, I do not have the doll and do not know if it worked well or not. But I found it amusing they had to include a disclaimer in the front of the book that Pooh's voice recognition was dependent on "clarity and speed of reading" and that he "may not always respond to young children." He's no Siri or Alexa, I guess.

(My Pooh Project: I love Winnie the Pooh, and so does my wife. Having a daughter gave us a chance to indoctrinate her into the cult by buying and reading her every Pooh book we came across. How many is that? I’m going to count them this year by reading and reviewing one every day and seeing which month I finally run out. Track my progress here:
