Rosie Reeve

The story is told in rhyme, a soothing four verse refrain that depicts the events of baby mouse and mama mouse as they proceed through end-of-the-day routines. The rhyme is traditional, but sounds natural, at least avoiding the forced rhyme scheme which so grates on the ear. The repetitive refrain is soothing, and so are the illustrations that are soft shades of blue and green and gray. The furry mice are soft and adorable. Children tend to like mice as main characters, which adds yet another pleasant factor. As the title indicates, the book is a fitting lullaby to be read at bedtime.… (mais)
