Christine Powers (1980–2019)

“100 Day” by Christine Powers, is a story of a kindergarten classroom that has reached their 100th day in school. I liked reading this story because it shows the excitement and enjoyment of a young classroom. I know that for children it is important to keep track of the days of school. One characteristic of this book that I really liked was the cross-curriculum teaching. I like that the teacher is explaining math and using language to help the children understand how to count to 100. The illustrations in this book show a realistic classroom. I appreciate the way the illustrator created a diverse classroom with the counting numbers on the wall above the blackboard. This shows some of the environmental cues in a classroom that can be used by students to help them count. Lastly, I like the detail in each of the illustrations on the page. My favorite image is the fish tank. The fish tank is full of color and brightens the classroom. Overall, I like the illustrations of the text and feel that the illustrations help create the story.… (mais)
