Sensory Processing Disorder (SPD) is a condition affecting at least one in twenty children who experience sensations in taste, touch, sound, sight, smell, movement, and body awareness in a vastly different manner from how other children their ages do. What may be typical activities for most kids are a daily struggle that may result in social, emotional, or academic problems. Selected Reading Questionnaire.

This is an excellent, very detailed, not dumbed-down, look into the various types of SPD, what it looks like, how to help, etc. I personally found this to be one of the better informational books on a subject that my family has been dealing with. One of the best points for me is the fact that the information is not dumbed-down, and speaks to the reader as if they are the intelligent people that we are.

this is an amazing resource about sensory processing disorder. it explains things in a way that is incredibly easy to understand and relate to without talking down at all, and it gives ideas and hope throughout as well. written primarily for parents, but would be a good book for teachers or anyone who interacts with many children as well.

Both my kids have Sensory Processing Disorder. This book got us on the path toward a viable treatment. I highly recommend Lucy Miller's STAR Center near Denver as well.
