An interesting read but a little long-winded.The author clearly knows alot about language and has wonderful instincts when it comes to the meaning and usages of words throughout history. She has devoted her life to work on words and deserves respect for how she portrays the study of language and words.

Ottimo. Ma ora esiste Internet e quindi ogni cosa, ogni citazione si trova senza pagare, vero? Certo, ma solo fino ad un certo punto: il 40% di questo libro viene occupato dall’indice ed è questo il bello: cerchi e trovi, a differenza di Google, dove a volte cerchi e basta. Dal punto di vista del traduttore, però, direi che un libro come questo è ormai un po’ superato dalla rete informatica, ma è sempre bello…
