A great book, simple explanations for fairly complex bodily functions, this grandma knows even more cool stuff now!

Children need a tape measure (a flexible one, like for sewing) with this book so they can measure all kinds of things -- illustrations in the book, around their arms, the length of a tracing of their feet, the length of their noses, the length of other people's noses, and more. These are fun exercises that teach young children how to use a tape measure and think about length.

S says: I think this would be a good book for a second grader because it is more about blood and cool people that actually did drink blood, like the Greeks and Dracula. I think all kids would want to read this because it's interesting.½

As a science teacher, I absolutely love this book (and the rest of the "Grossology" series). It is colourful and hilarious, and gives an impressive array of information on: Barf, boogers, farts, body odor, burping, ear wax, bad breath and the other bodily functions that boys can't seem to get enough of. This gives them a chance to learn the science behind these, while laughing hysterically at the illustrrations and comments. A great way to get boys interested in reading and biology!

This book contains some basic chemistry experiments that would be attractive to budding scientists and practical jokers alike. Index in back explains scientific terminology such as bacteria, blister, cavity. This would be great for giving examples on how to write a procedure, often in the third grade curriculum at our school.
