This is a compilation of 10 essays written in the 1970s that were published in the history journal, 'Past and Present.' The topics that were covered were very interesting. I especially enjoyed Hufton's essay about women, Le Goff and Sutherland's about rural communities in Brittany, and Lewis's about religious problems in Gard. This is a very good book to learn about the different spheres during the French Revolution.½
