The Land of Promiscuity is a story of a very confused woman called home from her uncomfortable job position to attend her mother's funeral. She wrestles with conflicting thoughts and memories of the relationship with her mother and past memories.

Her best friend - only real friend - was the nerdy son of the local pastor. When she fled the town Fifteen years ago, she left all relationships behind, including her best friend, her "auntie" and her mother (for the most part). With her being an only child, she was sure to inherit it all and perhaps she could escape somewhere far away.

This is a story of a woman needing some stability and direction in her life. She is forced to face "who she really is" and make several startling discoveries. There is a time all must "grow up"... Is this her time? Self discoveries are made by more than one person. When situations begin to arise, everything seems to mushroom out of proportion. The story takes some unexpected twists and surprising revelations. It is very much like life in an average community.

The book is directed at a Christian audience, yet the title would tend to drive those in that audience away. I feel a better title could have been chosen. The cover picture is very nice and pleasant but does not relate to the title.

The character descriptions were very good as was the background scenes depicted. The writing was well done with only four errors.

I felt the ending was incomplete yet not seeming to lead to a sequel. There needed to be a more definite conclusion ending this tale or leading into another sequel.

All in all, I feel it deserves a Four Stars rating. I enjoyed it but would not recommend it to YA without a parent reading it first then discussing the pros and cons concerning the subject matter. It would be good for Adult Book Clubs for discussion.

I was gifted this book by the author for an honest review, of which I have given.

I was expecting more of a story about the main characters, maybe a little romance and a look at marriage. Instead this book focused almost exclusively on the church aspect. A good book nonetheless, however, the author brought up some interesting sentiments( ie. women's role in marriage acroding to the the Bible, the Church) however, she not go into those topics.
