Sandy Harbutt

Ozploitation biker classic that sees members of the Grave Diggers MC being knocked-off one-by-one by a professional hit man. Undercover cop Stone (Ken Shorter) is sent in to find out what's going on and finds himself being sucked into the biker lifestyle. Written, directed and starring Sandy Harbutt (as Grave Diggers leader Undertaker) who delivers a violent, low budget exploiter that is given a touch of authenticity by members of the Sydney Hells Angels MC playing many of the Grave Diggers. The film looks gritty and street-level, but moves along with plenty of zip and energy. Ken Shorter appears too much of a hippie to be a bad-ass undercover cop and Rebecca Gilling is nice and sexy as Undertaker's moll Vanessa. Standout performance, however, is from Hugh Keays-Byrne as Toad, who looks and acts the part of the tripped-out psychotic biker. He went on to greater fame as Toecutter in "Mad Max". "Stone" has many parts that fall a touch flat, but overall it is an excellent biker movie and a classic slice of 1970s exploitation.… (mais)
