This is def going to be a new favorite cozy mystery series for me. I think that this was such a cute series. I loved the focus on the animals and this mysteries element was very hard to predict and it was a great small town story. Romance was not the heart of this and went in a direction i did not expect and i am so excited to go back and read book 1!! Very fun new series def a new favorite

An apparent murder suicide turns out to be a double murder, the police chief is on vacation out of state, and then an innocuous woman is dead in the veterinary clinic from an overdose of laughing gas. Dr. Kate is on temporary assignment in this small town where she has made many friends and they are determined that she should investigate and find the truth for these victims.
Lots of interesting realistic characters, both human and not. Unusual whodunit full of plot twists and red herrings with side orders of veterinary lore, hope for romance, and witty humor. Loved it!
