Henry Bast

This is a tremendous collection of sermons from Henry Bast, who serve the Lord over 40 years and a pastor, seminary professor and through a radio ministry. As the title suggests, Bast had an eagerness to preach God's word and as I read the sermons I could see that he dearly loved his Lord and Savior and desired nothing more than to proclaim that goodness in such a way that others could claim it ass their own.

Bast has gone on to glory over 30 years ago but there is much in these sermons that speaks to our day. Many of the issues that faced the church and that he touched on in his preaching remain present today. As a person who is still very much developing my own identity as a preacher I found much to learn as I read these sermons, particularly of the need to continually hold up God as sovereign, no matter what the world around me may look like or have to say about itself.

The sermons were organized by themes, which I found helpful, as it allowed me to clearly follow the track of Bast's exposition of a particular topic, such as the Lord's Prayer and the Apostles Creed. Other themes included Christian Life, Christian Death and the Power of the [Holy] Spirit. This is an excellent collection of sermons by a master preacher.
