All young readers should read Cool Kids. It discusses how to spot bullying's signs and symptoms. It teaches us an important lesson about bullies and the devastation they cause to their victims. The author utilizes a creative example to demonstrate the ugliness of being unkind to others, and then proposes a simple solution to undo it by being pleasant, displaying one's inner beauty.

MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK

What a special book to read to your children. Cool Kids by Arlene Freeman. This author does a fantastic job of teaching children valuable lessons in this book. Michael is at a new school, and while this is difficult enough, he also wants to play football. The only thing with playing football he would need to be a bully just like the other players are. And soon this get to be a problem because Michael notices changes in himself he doesn’t like.

Bullying has had is ugly effect on our extended family. One of my cousins 12 year old granddaughters took her life several years ago mainly because of bullying. I love to promote any book such as this that let’s kids know what happens when you treat others badly.

I think Cool Kids by Arlene Freeman should be in every school classroom and in libraries so kids of all ages have an opportunity to check it out. And I love the illustrations Amelina Jones so beautiful created to fit the pages of this book so beautifully. The colors, characters are so adorable. The book cover is sure to draw children to the bookshelves. I encourage you to pick up a copy of this book for your child’s library.

A special thanks to the author/publisher for a copy of this book. I am not required to write a positive review, the opinions here are mine alone. I am disclosing this with my review in accordance with the Federal Trade Commission’s 16 CFR, Part 255.

Cool Kids is a must read for all young readers. It covers what the effects of bullying look like. It gives a wonderful lesson of what happens to those who become the bullies and what they do to their victims. Bullies can turn into some horrible and miserable monsters and sometimes need to see what they look to others to change their own ways. I know so many readers – young and old – would be able to see themselves in this book. It never hurts to show more kindness instead of being mean others.

Cool Kids is illustrated by the talented artist Amelina Jones. The pictures are colorful and vivid that catches the eye. They perfectly follow story and help bring the characters to life. They help the story flow and make it easy for younger readers stay focused on the story.

Cool Kids will be getting a very well deserved five plus stars from me. I highly recommend it for readers who are between the ages of seven and twelve years old. This would be a perfect addition to a children’s local or school library. It would, also, be great book to add to a children’s story time hour to teach a lesson for the younger ones. I can not wait to read more by Arlene Freeman in the future.

I received a hard cover copy of Cool Kids from the publisher but was not required to write a positive review. This review is one hundred percent my own honest opinion.

It’s Michael’s first day at a new school and he’s excited to see his friends and perhaps join the football team. But once he realizes the “cool kids” playing football aren’t paying him any attention, he decides to hand around them and act the way they do to win them over. The problem with that is the “cool kids” are bullies.

When Michael begins to bully others, he notices a change within himself. He looks and acts different and even his dog Cooper growls at him. After losing his true friends, can he find a way to reverse the damage done?

Cool Kids is a cautionary tale of the pitfalls one can fall into while trying to fit in or be one of the “cool kids.” Michael and his friends are easy to empathize with and even the bullies reveal some good qualities in the end. The full-page water-colored illustrations are lively and colorful, adding much to the story’s appeal.

Disclosure: I received a complimentary copy of this book. My review was not influenced.
