The word count and word level is really accessible for early elementary readers, and the photos are spectacular.
Each animal is written about separately; roughly 25 word segments. For example, the bird section has 7 paragraphs about 7 types of birds, and the entire 'chapter' totals under 200 words.
I can definitely use this book (or pieces thereof) for reading practice with my 1st-3rd grade students. The most struggling students could have a single section or two (25-60 words), and my more advanced students could have an entire animal genre section (175-225 words). (
