I have read these stories a few times over the years, usually in paperbacks that I no longer own, now collected in an edition for the Kindle. As I read them again I began to notice the formula. There is usually a damsel in distress, and Conan is usually unknown at the beginning of the story. There is almost always evil wizards, and monsters from unknown reaches of hell. The writing has some baroque touches, fantastic descriptions of jungles, dungeons, and other horrors. I enjoy the short story as a respite at the end of the day, but I like the idea of having an electronic version, rather than owning the pulp that these stories deserve.
