( ) Enlisting at 17 after growing up in Saratoga, Wyoming, Kernan spent 4 years on carriers in the Pacific. On the Enterprise for her Dec 8 return to Pearl, he was also with her on the first US carrier raid and the battle of Midway. He survived the Hornet sinking and was present as a flight gunner when Butch O'Hare was lost. His description of life onshore, onship and in the air would be worth the read even without his presence at these momentous events. Orginally written as a memoir for his family but published after encouragement from other WW 2 authors, it is an excellent addition to the short list of books written by someone from the ranks. sem resenhas | adicionar uma resenha
