October 24, 2003 In the Event of My Death Carlene Thompson I liked this one even better than Since You’ve Been Gone. Similar elements: female protagonist, secrets from the past, and the supernatural. Well, the only supernatural element ends up not being supernatural at all, but since it’s “witchcraft”, that’s something. Laurel has a secret: she and a group of friends in high school who called themselves The Six of Hearts used to get together in an old barn and do witchcraft rituals, and one night things went wrong and Laurel’s best friend, Faith, dies in a horrible fire. It’s written off as a suicide, but the girls who were present know the truth and swear never to tell. Ten years or so later, though, the other Six of Hearts are being killed off one by one, and of course Laurel has to figure it out before she’s next. An old formula, but a good one! sem resenhas | adicionar uma resenha
They had been six teenage girls in Wheeling, West Virginia. Full of mischief. Acting wild. Having good times. And getting into trouble. they called themselves the Six of Hearts. Then one night things went to far. One of them died. The rest swore to never tell what really happened. Now, thirteen years later, someone has decided to kill the remaining Six of hearts. The first to die is Angie, a successful New York City actress. And flower-shop owner Laurel Damron, still living in Wheeling, may be next. She has gotten a chilling message in the mail. She knows a killer is watching her. But who? Only by searching the past can she uncover a haunting truth...only by looking deep with herself can she uncover a lost memory...and only by suspecting everyone she knows, does she have one slim chance of staying alive...
Guter Krimi! ( )
