Just can't seem to get enough of Mr Laymon at the moment. This is a classic creature-feature type story. A sickly yellow worm burrows into people turning them into obedient, horny killers. It's like the very best of the B-movies, but in novel form. Anyone that's read any Richard Laymon at all won't be surprised at the many and varied ways he finds to divest each young lady of her clothes, and I think I've probably mentioned before the fun little game you can have looking out for 'red gym shorts girl', of which there are at least two in this novel. There's a bonus for you right there then.

I've yet to come across a Richard Laymon novel that I didn't enjoy and this was no exception. Very enjoyable.

Read so many of Laymon's books and this is definitely my last. Felt like I read the best of his books already. OK so knowing Laymon sad endings are inevitable. But this one surprised me. The story was the usual like most of his other books so I wont divulge into that. Just thinking where he gets his creativity from creating his character for his monsters/aliens or whatever they are. Gore is ok and lust/erotic is very mellow on this book. I was a bit in suspense with the last chapter just waiting for something to happen to Allison. What if this thing laid an egg in her and comes out bursting from her back or she ends up killing Jake and Kimmy. That never happened which caught me by surprise. The book is ok so if you a fan of Laymon then its a must read. ( )

It was rather slow going for me at first but it picked up quite a lot towards the end. The book is split up into several different smaller story's that slowly collide towards the end. Laymon did a good job at converging them together. All and all pretty good book once you get past the slow parts. ( )

This is a pretty enjoyable book. Of course, it's got Laymon's trademarks; sex and gore. But it's actually a pretty interesting story, if a tad predictable towards the end. Fans of Richard Laymon's other work will not be disappointed, but it won't be changing anyone else's mind about him. ( )

Ich besitze eine ganze Sammlung von Richard-Laymon-Werken und kann deshalb behaupten, dass dieses Buch, auch wenn die Geschichte absolut klasse ist, nicht gerade in seiner mir bekannten typisch-brutalen Art geschrieben ist. Dieses Buch zählt zu den harmloseren seiner Werke. Dies tut der Spannung und dem Lesegenuss aber dennoch keinen Abbruch. Absolut, wie all seine Bücher, empfehlenswert. ( )
