This is a really good anthology, for it presents accounts / stories from all different areas of (Canadian) climbing history. More so, however, because of the insightful and careful selection of authors. This is a collection of stories that pays respect not only to the climb / mountain / historical importance, but also to the style and language of the opiece itself. This, together with the highly useful (and in itself well-written) introductions to the various chapters as well as single stories, makes for highly rewarding reading. For readers like myself, mainly ignorant of the mountains / chains / summits / areas described, maps and pictures labeled on the page would have been a trear (more so than the glossary...) sem resenhas | adicionar uma resenha
Sixty-three pieces range from Conrad Kain's classic account of the first ascent of Mount Robson to Sharon Wood's thoughts on her experience as the first North American woman to reach the summit of Mount Everest. Early explorers and modern daredevils, exhilarating achievements and deadly accidents provide a testament to extraordinary places and personalities. Não foram encontradas descrições de bibliotecas. |
