This is a sweet story of a teacher who collects pennies from students and counts up to 100. When the classes reaches 10, 20, or 30 of something one child or another will bring in that many of an item. This might be a good exercise to do with a class learning counting to 100 or how to count by tens to 100. Although there are other books I treasure more, this has been a favorite request to read aloud by the students. The bright pictures, diverse cast of characters, and excitement of counting down the days of school might all contribute to a popular read. The fact that the plot revolves around counting up and counting down and anticipating the experience is a significant plus. More stars because of the popularity of the read. ( ) The 100th day of school is always a big deal in an elementary school classroom. Mrs. Madoff did a great job at emphasizing the 100th day of school by each student bringing in a penny and dropping it in the jar until there were 100 pennies in the jar. The students in this book were full of excitement. The best part about this book was that the class sent their 100 pennies to another place where there was a hurricane. This book will teach my students how to count, and importantly how to give. I really like this book. It had many different aspects to it. It told a story of the children's 100 day of school, which many classes still do like I did in elementary school. This book could be used in a math lesson because it reviews counting by 10's. Lastly the students in the book raise money for a town that was just hit by a hurricane. Students could relate to this book in many ways and I feel that it would apply to every student in at least one way. I would like to read this story in my classroom. Although my class wanted to give this book a 5 star rating, I enjoyed this counting book but did not feel as though it was 5 star material. This book is an easy read for the younger grades and an excellent opportunity for teachers and parents to skip count by 10's to 100. My students enjoyed the pace of the book and how every page had a pattern of adding 10 more pennies and bringing in different things to represent the landmark number. sem resenhas | adicionar uma resenha
