Personal Response:
This story was very colorful and very much illustrated with lots of masks of different creatures. This may be a little scary for some younger children because of the different masks which are part of the story.

This is an excellent example of realistic fiction as it is the story of a young boy and his part in a traditional Mexican Fiesta, the Fiesta of the Tigre. The setting is extremely important in this book, which takes place in a small Mexican village which has the Tigre festival yearly and many of the village people know each other and work together. ( )
