KEEGAN: Sightseeing, gay bars...and if I'm lucky, maybe a couple of random hookups. That's the extent of my plans when I sign up for a European vacay with my buddies. I've never heard of this Parlaisa country--but hey--a cheap flight and two-star hotel are perfect for a poor college kid, right? And the trip turns out to be even better than I could have possibly imagined when I end up in a bar with some sexy masked guy's tongue down my throat. And damn...what a tongue. Even with his face partially obscured, Sexy Masked Guy can't hide those hypnotic steel blue eyes, his chiseled jawline, or the gun show he's working with under that tight T-shirt. But after our kiss, he proves to be nothing more than a cocky, dismissive a-hole. As if that isn't bad enough, flash forward--after one hell of a misunderstanding, I'm arrested by the Parlaisan royal guard and taken to a dungeon, where I learn that Sexy Masked Guy is actually Sexy Prince. Prince Owen Hawthorne III. Yes, I was kissing the Prince of Parlaisa! Even worse, pics of us kissing are posted on the notorious Prince Watch blog. Prince Owen III has been unmasked by the paps, and we've both been outed. And here I had been planning to finally tell my family about my inclinations towards rainbows, glitter, and c*ck as soon as I got back home to Fever Falls. Seems like my vacation can't get any wackier, but now Prince Owen needs a favor--a fake relationship favor. All I have to do is pretend to be his boyfriend for a good cause and some cash that I could really use right about now. But do I really want to team up with a guy who's been nothing but a prick to me in the short time that I've known him? Of course, before I know it, I'm in too deep. Fortunately, Owen's strict 'no messing around' rule will keep this from getting out of control. Even though I can't stop thinking about how he knew exactly what he was doing with his tongue. Even though he loves watching me prance around in my underwear. Even though he can't get enough of me on my knees, doing what I do best. Dammit--did we already screw this up? Talk about a #RoyalProblem.… (mais)

There were parts of this book I really liked, parts I really didn't like, and parts I just through were awkward or not well written.
To start with the characters, I thought that Owen and Keegan had a pretty okay relationship and thought the build-up was pretty good. However, Some of the dialogue between them was not great in my opinion and it made me less invested in their relationship as a whole. Their physical relationship was only really present at the very end and while that's fine, the language used in these encounters just read weird to me. I thought their backstories were fine but I thought we never really dove deep enough. This is a longer romance books compared to what I read recently but it didn't feel any longer based on the backstory we got. I also wanted a few of the side characters to be fleshed out a bit more.
I would say that there wasn't too much of a plot in this book. There are a few scenes discussing marriage equality in Owen's country and Keegan's birth family but most of the focus is on Owen and Keegan's relationship and their families. I think this is fine but in this case, the family drama wasn't interesting enough and the relationship wasn't interesting enough so I was left feeling bored at some parts. Some parts were definitely entertaining. I don't want it to seem like I hated it. I didn't, I rated it 3 stars. There were parts I thought were really cute. I was just left wanting a bit more.
I think I would read more books by this author, just probably not in this series, unless a Casey and Steve book gets published, I'm very interested in their story. I've read all the other plot synopses and I'm not really interested in any of the other stories but who knows, maybe I'll change my mind some day. ( )

Keegan is on vacation with friends and is celebrating getting ready to come out of the closet. While out at a bar in a foreign country, he meets and kisses a guy where sparks eventually fly. Owen is the prince of the country but in costume, so no one will know who he is. He has never kissed a guy before and has been very well known to sleep around with women. When he ends up kissing Keegan, things get crazy and jumbled in his head. There is miscommunication, political games, fake boyfriend turns true love, and age gap in this book. It was a good story, and it was made even better by listening to Michael Pauley narrate it. I enjoyed it.

For me, the best part of this book is the relationships of the side characters. Reading this series I've discovered that I like Riley Hart's stories, but not Devon McCormack's.

So much is far-fetched (like more than your typical romance) and even though the sex is sometimes hot I never feel any reason for why the two characters want to be together. There's no buildup. There's an interesting kink in this one that gets some attention, but even some of the sex scenes feel rushed, so there's not a lot of payoff for either the romance or the heat.

I found myself skimming and paying attention to the developing relationships of the side characters more than the main characters.

Looking forward to the next book in the series only because it's written by Hart. ( )
