The main crime fighter focused on in this series book is Chloe St. John, who is a K-9 cop paired with a German shepherd named Hank. Chloe is called upon to help with a case that leads to uncovering a human trafficking ring. The fact that a cousin has become one of the victims ups the ante as Chloe works with other members of her crime fighting family to find her cousin and stop the bad guys. Along the way, she meets Blake - a US Marshall whose daughter has also been kidnapped. Romantic sparks may fly between these two - but first they must find the human traffickers and keep a Judge from being killed. This was a "fun" read in that the author did a good job creating suspenseful scenes that kept the action moving. I especially remember the scenes that focused on the kidnapped girl and her struggle to escape. I would definitely recommend this to fans of suspense fiction featuring different types of professional crime fighters working together. The hostage situations had me on the edge of my seat, biting my fingernails in the hopes that everything turned out okay.I can't wait to read about the rest of the siblings and their careers. I mentioned in my Mid-Year Recap Mid-Year Recap that Called to Protect, the second book in the Blue Justice series by Lynette Eason, was on my anticipated reads list for the second half of the year. I'm happy to report this book lived up to all my expectations! The action starts on page one and does not stop until the last page. I could not put this story down! There are many intense and shocking scenes. Lynette Eason can write a gripping story with plenty of description to make you feel what the characters are going through, but stops such details before things get cringeworthy. I loved how the plot unfolded and how all the pieces fit together. The St. John siblings share a unique bond with five of them being involved with law enforcement. I love how they show up to support each other not only professionally, but personally as well. An ensemble cast of characters helps provide several point of views, including the criminals. I really enjoyed the point of view of Rachel, a teenage girl caught up in a human trafficking ring. Her critical thinking skills and ability to act fast helped make her scenes shine! Let's not forget Hank, too, Chloe's K-9 partner! He definitely had a special part in the story! Sprinkled throughout the pages is a sweet and light romance. It's so cute and believable. I enjoyed how it was not the focus and how naturally it happened. I am super invested in this series and this family! The next book, Code of Valor, is due out January 1, 2019. I'm expecting another page turner for sure! I received a complimentary copy of this book from Revell through NetGalley. Opinions expressed are my own. sem resenhas | adicionar uma resenha

Blake and Chloe were characters I loved following along with as they fought to get to the bottom of what was going on with Blake's daughter and the order to kill the man he was protecting.
This book dealt with lies, kidnappings, threats, and a spouse that cheated all are mentioned though cleanly.
I loved reading about Hank, it was neat to learn a little about a K-9 and what they help the police with, the searches were descriptive without being boring too. ( )
