Stride is now in Las Vegas with the police department & Serena. A fish out of water compared to being in Minnesota, he is paired with a partner who no one else will partner with. Numerous murders and a chameleon killer that ties to an old Vegas 1960's murder with the players still playing & scheming. Stride learns that secrets, politics, scheming, murder, betrayal and sleight of hand is Vegas, baby! Jonathan Stride, a veteran detective in the rural town of Duluth, Minnesota, is still mourning his late wife, Cindy's death when Rachel, a teenager, goes missing. Assisted by his quirky partner, Maggie, an investigation into a girl's disappearance convinces Stride she was murdered. There's a trial and another murder; then the book really gets interesting. I was glued to every page while Mr. Freeman brought plot twist after plot twist. I understand Immoral is Mr. Freeman's debut novel. I have read all of the Easton Frost books and loved them. This book is written in the same style. It's very suspenseful and is filled with many interesting characters. I'm glad I discovered this series! Debated on 2 or 3 reviews and chose 2. In a few days, I won't be able to recall any of this story...it is just forgettable. None of the characters are likable. The story felt like "Basic Instinct" interrogation scene every chapter. Everyone is hot and screwing each other..oh, and it doesn't bother them to talk about their sex life with strangers. Characters talk about their drug use going so far as to offer some to the cops. Transvestite partner is always the victim...except when taunting the girlfriend's partner. By the way, was Stride so dumb he couldn't tell his partner was a bit off? I would assume a low masculine voice would give it away along with several other things. What was the plot of this book again? I did make it through the book so it's got that going for it. 1 star is reserved for "can't finish it" sem resenhas | adicionar uma resenha

HTML: Jonathan Stride and Serena Dial are both investigating high-profile murders in Las Vegas. A celebrity is assassinated during a fling with a prostitute, and a young boy is killed in a brutal hit-and-run incident. When the cases converge, Jonathan and Serena find themselves racing the clock against a determined serial killer and searching for a connection to the unsolved murder of a showgirl years earlier. Freeman's vivid cast of characters exposes all of Las Vegas's dirty secrets, past and present, and in a rooftop showdown amid the ruins of a 1960s-era casino, the chase comes to a stunning climax. Like Immoral, Stripped pushes the emotional and sexual limits of its heroes and keeps the listener riveted until the last shocking plot twist. .Não foram encontradas descrições de bibliotecas. |
