As you will know if you've read my review of Twin Flames, the first book in this series, I couldn’t wait for this sequel to be published. And now that it has I am very happy to say I loved it just as much as the first book. While still firmly founding this world in Sumerian legends, Lexi Ander adds more of the Lycan lore and a few new elements, seamlessly weaving them into the story of Tristan and Ushna. Not only do these characters come even more alive, the twists and turns their story takes are amazing and certainly kept me glued to the pages.

Tristan has more than a few revelations in this installment. While he previously began to see that not all was as it seemed, he now has to deal with some really shocking events and a revision of his understanding of how the world, and the gods and goddesses, actually work. His love for Ushna grows as they face adversity together, and that is a good thing, since he and his self-image are severely tested by the end of this book. What a delightful surprise that was!

Ushna really comes into his own in this book. He stands by Tristan, but he also adds his own personal perspective and way of doing things. It enables both of them to develop a partnership that fits them and their needs, one that is truly their own, not based on how others relate to their partners. This was an unexpected, but very welcome development as far as I am concerned.

This series started as an epic fantasy/paranormal drama, and continues to progress into the arena of inventive, new worlds with their own rules. I thoroughly enjoyed all of this second story! If you like ancient legends brought to life in a modern way, if you enjoy tales with a mix of devious and delightful twists and turns, and if you're ready to suffer and triumph along with the main characters, then by all means, go and buy this book! Again, I cannot wait for the next sequel!

Wow! That was an extremely wild ride. This is a shifter book, but it's also full of magic. And it has lots of mythology and gods. The author must have did a lot of research to incorporate so much detail.

The leads are great guys. I enjoyed their sex scenes. I especially felt how much they cared for each other.

The book isn't a super long book, but so much happened. All of the everyday shifter information was given. Family matters and tribe matters were discussed. The couples had their regular couple situations. The magic council had major parts also. So much is still to be told about them. Then there are the gods and mythological creatures. The background of gods and explanations are interwoven into the story. Lots and lots of components, so prepare to pay attention. I've read all of these before, but I don't remember being fully immersed in each at the same time before. Also there are rituals preformed and a M/M pregnancy. I have absolutely no idea which direction the next book will go; so, I'm just going to strap in and get ready for anything.
