This was an interesting read, a novel set in Perth during the time of the second World war that deals with many issues related to that time eg the internment of Italians and the atitudes of the local community to the Americans who are based there. A woman's body is found and most of the community believe that her husband, an Italian, killed her. But there are some in the community including Meg Eaton, and an American soldier called Tom Lagrange who become involved in this mystery , and not believing the husband killed her, seek to find the truth, However as Meg spends more time with Tom she worries - Is Tom Lagrange all that he seems to be or is he hiding something as well. The book kept me interested,. I was keen to see how it worked out, and it did give me insights into life at the time, and the sorts of problems that arose for the soldiers and the local community. Until, that is, she meets her lost lover's brother, Tom - standing over a body in her neighbour's backyard.Suddenly, Meg finds herself embroiled in the murder mystery, and increasingly involved with Tom Lagrange.
