I really don’t like this book so I’m not going to keep reading it. Life is too short. Many people clearly love it, but I suspect that they are younger and more hip than me.

>2 annamorphic: Obviously I'm neither young nor hip - this was my review from 2020:

A 30 something New York poet/author contemplates his mortality. Not sure why this was added to the latest list, though reviews I read talked about it pushing the boundaries of the novel - I did this as an audiobook so maybe the physical book was more interesting. Anyway, there were some well written passages but at the end I'm not sure that anything of note/interest really happened. 2.5/5

I was nervous when I saw the other two comments about this one. I did manage to finish but didn't really like it. I did not care for the main character or anything about his life at all. I think if I had read this when it first came out, I would have been the same age as him at the time, and I still don't think I would have cared. Like >3 puckers:, I listened to the audo and I did not notice anything that would seem to be pushing the boundary of the novel. I did enjoy the narration which is pretty much the only thing that kept me going with this.
