April 2023 Group Challenge

World Book Day is here again!
On April 23 (the anniversary of the death of William Shakespeare), we celebrate World Book Day, which was established 'to promote reading across all communities, encourage people to engage with different types of literature, and discover the benefits of reading.'

So for this month's challenge, let's read . . . . a book! Any book.

If you would like to narrow it down, April also sees International Children's Book Day being observed on April 2 (the birthday of Hans Christian Andersen).
So you could read one of the children's books on the list, or a book featuring a child.

I am planning on reading The Birds Fall Down by Rebecca West next month.

I am hoping to read The Cider House Rules by John Irving

My plans changed and instead of The Birds Fall Down by Rebecca West, I read Crome Yellow by Aldous Huxley. I found the book very dated and spend my time wishing something would happen to liven things up.

>4 DeltaQueen50: Not a great recommendation! I am heading to a reread of Brave New World which I haven't read since high school. Hopefully it holds up to my remembered idea of it.

>4 DeltaQueen50: I too was very disappointed by Crome Yellow, and I'd enjoyed Brave New World (although in high school, like JayneCM)

I shall count All Souls by Javier Marias as my April Book-Month book. It did include a child, but he was a kind of sad, flat character. Like most in that book.
